About & CV
Jason Poblete
Photography is a practice of attention.
Jason Poblete is a documentary photographer drawn to people and places the world has stopped looking at. His work includes photographs made in cemeteries, on sidewalks, in churches, along railroads, and in coastal communities.
The portfolio presents a small, edited selection from a larger body of work exploring faith, labor, memory, and everyday life.
Photography Collections
-
Life Goes On
A study of resilience in the mundane. Finding the quiet dignity in everyday routines and the unstoppable momentum of human existence.
-
Faith Journeys
An exploration of reverence, ritual, and the human search for meaning in sacred spaces and the practices that give them meaning.
-
Memento Mori
Memento Mori photographs what holds a name after the people who carried it are gone: burial ground, marker, the corridor that runs past both. The title is an instruction, and it is not addressed to the dead.
-
Free Enterprise
The pulse of individual labor and commerce is the sound of freedom. Examining the realities and quiet pride of work.
-
The Salt Line
Life shaped by the sea. The harsh, beautiful, and unforgiving realities of coastal living and maritime traditions.
-
Light & Dark
Light and Dark is made in the hours when there is barely enough light to work: after dark, and in the short windows on either side of night. What the eye would have smoothed over stays hard here; a lamp, a doorway, a strip of wall, and everything else gone. These are the same places the other collections photograph, seen at the hour nobody is looking.
